The progress of the ongoing counter terrorists operations remained unchecked by the monsoon rains as highly motivated Sri Lanka Army soldiers took up the challenge. The pictures show how TF 1 soldiers maintained supplies to the forward elements over the flooded Pooneryn-Paranthan road

Some self claimed defence experts hoped Sri Lanka Army would encounter a similar situation once faced by Napoleon's Armies in Moscow , when lack of supplies and hostile weather destroyed troops. However, the experience and the tactics of battle hardened Sri Lanka army soldiers were beyond the capacity of such analysts . The soldiers have turned the hostile weather to their advantage while the terrorists have been hoisted with their own petard

A soldier drains rainwater from his boot after crossing a flooded road in Poonaryn, northern Sri Lanka, an area the military recently recaptured
